25 Ridgewood Terrace

Dear Future Homeowner,

We knew the house was ours the moment we saw it - the yellow exterior, the front porch, and the swing drew us right in, and there was an immediate sense that the house had good bones and an easy, lived-in warmth.

One of the things we loved most was shaping the outdoor spaces over time. Beyond the perennial plantings that frame the house, the garden beds, pathways, and the classic Maplewood garage all became part of how we lived outside, quietly unfolding with the seasons and evolving alongside our family.

The backyard is intimate and deeply private, and it became a place where we could slow down - tea in the mornings, quiet evenings outside, the occasional treat of morning doves and hummingbirds passing through, and on clear nights, the stars.

From there, the house flows naturally inward, with the patio and porch opening directly into the kitchen and dining spaces, making it easy to cook, grill, entertain, and come together around the table. The first floor is where we spent most of our time as a family - lingering in the kitchen, sharing meals in the dining room, and enjoying simple evenings together in the TV room.

Upstairs, the bedrooms on the second floor felt quiet and private, filled with natural light from the bay windows, while the third floor became a place for the kids to gather, hang out, and make the house their own. Downstairs, the basement offered another flexible layer of space that became a studio and a gym.

Mornings on the front porch often began with sunrise and the sight of our kids - and the neighborhood kids - heading off to school. Our street is something of a sweetheart in Maplewood: welcoming, friendly, and a place where neighbors come together, especially for Halloween and block parties. When we first moved in, neighbors stopped by with baked goods, flowers, and handwritten notes.

Being able to walk straight into town became one of the great joys of living here - from everyday errands and Able Baker, a beloved Maplewood bakery, to watching our kids eventually walk to school and into town on their own, gaining independence while we felt completely at ease.

Maplewood made everyday life feel connected - home, school, town, and community all part of the same rhythm - with the ease of a straightforward commute into New York City for work, museums, theater, and creative inspiration, followed by the simple comfort of coming home again.

We hope you enjoy making it your own.
