Dear Future Homeowner,

Welcome to your new home. Our journey here began when a career move brought us from North Carolina to the New York area. We arrived searching for the same sense of peace and sanctuary we had left behind, and the moment we first stepped into this house, we knew we had found it.

There is a rare, beautiful balance to living here. In the mornings, you can listen to the birds and watch wildlife wander through the backyard, yet you remain just five minutes from the train into the city. It is an incredible neighborhood that offers quietude without sacrificing access to the world.

We have spent years lovingly tending to the grounds, adding many plantings from our favorite local nursery and special transplants from a parent’s garden. It is our hope that you find joy in watching these bloom in succession throughout the seasons.

Life in this community is uniquely vibrant. We have cherished our weekend morning walks to Able Baker for coffee and gluten-free scones, evening cocktails at Lorena’s, dinners at Luna Stella and the many festivals that bring South Orange and Maplewood to life. Meeting up with neighbors in town for drinks or dinner made us feel like we were really part of the community.

This house has been the backdrop for our most significant milestones, including graduating two children who grew up playing in this backyard. As we pass the keys to you, we hope you enjoy the updates and improvements we’ve made over the years. They were completed with a deep respect for the home’s history, intended to ensure this structure stands strong and welcoming for another hundred years.
