Dear Future Homeowners,

We remember being in your shoes when we bought this home with our 5-year old twins in tow. Coming from the city, it felt like a massive amount of living space (and endless storage space) but we got right to work turning it into our cozy dream home. We have loved living here and our family has made many fond memories over the years. Since we can't bring the whole house with us (we considered it) we're happy you'll be able to enjoy it and make your own memories here. 

We had so much fun designing a new kitchen, adding two bathrooms and a mudroom, and renovating and restoring the other rooms in the home. We kept every possible original detail to honor the beauty and history of 83 Hixon Place. We also added modern conveniences like smart appliances and heated floors for maximum comfort.  

Our kids have loved the large Playroom on the second floor and we have loved the peace and quiet of our third floor primary suite and office. We have hosted many guests, parties, and holidays with extended family and the house has always perfectly accommodated a crowd.  

We are the hangout house among our children's friends and have hosted many neighborhood get-togethers, snowball fights, firepits, slip-n-slide parties, swingset hangouts, barbecues and birthdays. Our family has loved all the bunnies, birds and fireflies who share our backyard and enjoy the fruits and vegetables from our garden as much as we do. In the spring our garden explodes with so many peonies, hydrangeas and lilacs that we make bouquets for our neighbors and fill the house with flowers. 

The neighbors on Hixon are tight-knit and welcoming and we feel lucky to have made so many friends here. The field across the street feels like an extension of our home. Our children learned to ride bicycles there and often meet other kids from the block to go sledding or practice soccer. With a short equidistant walk to either Maplewood or South Orange town center and train, as well as the pharmacy and grocery store on the corner, we have been able to live the suburban dream but continue to enjoy walking around town as we did in the city- the best of both worlds.  

We have loved coming home from all of our adventures,  trips,  and even daily NYC commutes and finding the house waiting for us.  We hope you love it as much as we have.
