A CONVERSATION I’LL NEVER FORGET:
THE MILLIONAIRE REAL ESTATE AGENT PODCAST
by Vanessa Pollock
There are some moments in a career that make you stop and take in just how far the journey has traveled. This was one of those moments for me.
I recently had the incredible honor of sitting down with Jason Abrams for The Millionaire Real Estate Agent Podcast, and having the opportunity to share a philosophy that has shaped not only the way I’ve built my business, but the way I’ve come to define success.
For more than 20 years, I’ve been building Pollock Properties Group around a simple belief: how we build the business matters just as much as what we build. Care for people. Serve them with excellence. Give from what you build and make a positive impact. It sounds simple, but over the years, I’ve watched those three ideas transform our business, our team, our relationships with our clients, and ultimately, our community.
What If Generosity Were a Business Model?
Like so many people in real estate, the book The Millionaire Real Estate Agent had a profound influence on the way I thought about building a business. The models taught us how to build something profitable, scalable, and sustainable. But as my own business grew, I began thinking about another kind of model: What if generosity could be built into the business itself?
Not something we did only after we became successful. Not simply a check we wrote at the end of the year or a marketing campaign designed to make us look good. What if caring, serving, and giving could become part of the actual operating system of a business?Over time, that idea became the foundation of how we operated at Pollock Properties Group. We worked to serve our clients with extraordinary care and excellence. We invested in our team and our community. And as the business grew, so did our ability to give. What I discovered along the way was something I never expected: generosity didn’t compete with profitability. It helped create it. When people feel cared for, they remember. When they are served exceptionally well, they tell other people. And when a business becomes genuinely invested in the community it serves, something much deeper than a transaction begins to happen. Trust grows, relationships grow, community grows, and yes, the business grows too.
From One Business to Something Much Bigger
For years, we have been living this philosophy inside Pollock Properties Group. But eventually I started wondering: What would happen if thousands of businesses did this together? What if consumers could easily find businesses committed to both excellence in their industry and generosity in their communities? What if a plumber, Realtor, mortgage professional, yoga studio, restaurant, contractor, financial advisor, designer, or neighborhood shop could build giving into the way they do business? And what if we could make philanthropy easier for small businesses that want to give back but don’t have the time, infrastructure, or resources to create and manage a nonprofit of their own?
Those questions eventually grew into the Care • Serve • Give community.
The vision is to gather businesses committed to industry excellence and generosity, make it easier for consumers to find and support them, and give those businesses the tools and infrastructure to turn their desire to do good into meaningful action.
Because I believe small business has an extraordinary, largely untapped power to change communities. One business may not be able to change the world, but it can change someone’s world. An employee. A client. A family. A child. A neighborhood. A life. And when thousands of businesses begin doing that together, the collective impact can become enormous.
Why This Podcast Meant So Much to Me
That is why being invited onto The Millionaire Real Estate Agent Podcast felt so significant. This wasn’t simply an opportunity to talk about my career or the success of Pollock Properties Group. It was an opportunity to talk about what I believe may be the next chapter of that success: helping other business owners discover how purpose, excellence, profitability, and generosity can exist together.
To have that conversation on a platform connected to a book and a set of business models that have influenced so many entrepreneurs in our industry was incredibly meaningful to me. I’m deeply grateful to Jason Abrams for his curiosity, his generosity, and for giving me the space to tell this story.
I’m also grateful to every client who has trusted us, every team member who has helped build this business, every community partner who has worked alongside us, and every person who has helped me understand what Care • Serve • Give can look like in real life. None of this happened alone. Every transaction helped build the business. Every relationship helped shape the philosophy. Every opportunity to give taught us something about what business can be.
This Feels Like a Milestone. And a Beginning.
Twenty-plus years into this journey, I am more convinced than ever that we don’t have to choose between building successful businesses and building better communities. We can do both. In fact, I believe the best businesses of the future will.
They will be businesses people choose not only because they are excellent at what they do, but because of how they choose to do it. Businesses that care, businesses that serve, and businesses that give. Businesses that understand that profit isn’t simply an outcome. It can also become a tool for impact.
I’m incredibly honored to have had the opportunity to share that message on The Millionaire Real Estate Agent Podcast. I hope you’ll listen to the conversation, but more than anything, I hope it makes you think about what might be possible when we begin measuring the success of a business not only by what it earns, but by what it makes possible for others.
