Dear Future Homeowners,

On a spectacular autumn day, we visited Maplewood for the very first time on the recommendation of a family friend. We were searching for the right place to put down roots in New Jersey and spent the day touring homes with our realtor.

We saw nine houses that day.

At the end of the tour, our realtor asked which one was our favorite. Without any discussion beforehand, we both answered at exactly the same moment:

"Burroughs."

There was something about this home from the very beginning.

It wasn't one grand feature that captured us. It was the collection of little details. The morning sunlight streaming through the back door. The magnificent oak tree standing watch over the backyard. The beautiful wood inlay set into the diagonally laid hardwood floors near the fireplace. The feeling that this was a home with character, warmth, and a story to tell.

Over time, those little details became the backdrop for a life.

The backyard became the neighborhood gathering spot for wiffle ball games and countless afternoons spent outside with friends. When the weather didn't cooperate, the finished basement became the place where kids could play, laugh, and make memories indoors. We created a home office that allowed us to work remotely, and over the years we adapted and improved the spaces to fit our family's changing needs. The deck grew larger, the patio doubled as a basketball court, and the house continued to grow alongside us.

One of the things we have loved most is the location.

We walked to Maplewood Village and South Orange for dinners, coffee, shopping, and evenings out. We enjoyed little league games, summer concerts, fireworks in the park, tennis on the community courts, and all the traditions that make Maplewood such a special place to live.

From elementary school through middle school and high school, our children could walk to school. Friends were always nearby. And if you're lucky enough to be here in October, you'll quickly discover that the neighborhood Halloween celebrations are every bit as legendary as you've heard.

What we found here was so much more than a house.

We found neighbors who became friends. We found a town filled with parks, traditions, walkability, and connection. We found a place where our family could grow, explore, celebrate, and simply enjoy everyday life together.

From the very first day we stepped through the front door, we couldn't wait to go from moving to Maplewood to truly living in Maplewood.
