Welcome.
Our story in Maplewood began in April of 2000, when we moved into a small home near busy Springfield Avenue. While it was a wonderful introduction to this special town, over time we found ourselves longing for more space—and a little more peace and quiet.
When we found 9 Warner Road in 2016, we knew right away it was exactly what we had been searching for. One of the first things we noticed was the quiet—you could actually hear birds chirping instead of the constant whoosh of traffic. It felt like a true retreat, while still being incredibly connected to everything Maplewood has to offer.
We quickly fell in love with the location. Being within walking distance to the South Mountain Reservation and the dog park has been such a gift, and we’ve spent countless days enjoying the trails and natural beauty. At the same time, the easy walk to downtown Maplewood and the train station has made trips into New York City—whether for work or a night out—remarkably simple and convenient.
The home itself has been just as special to us. The open layout, with the kitchen flowing into the family room, created the perfect space for our family to be together. With three sons, this truly became the heart of our home—where so much of everyday life unfolded.
Since moving in, we have lovingly renovated and updated nearly every room, always with the goal of making the home both beautiful and comfortable. The house is spacious and has easily accommodated our family of five, along with an au pair and our dog, without ever feeling crowded.
The basement became a favorite gathering place for our boys and their friends—hosting countless playdates, hangouts, and sleepovers. We also created an exercise space there, which we can proudly say, has become one of the most used areas in the home. It has made staying active incredibly convenient. Adding a bathroom in the basement proved invaluable, especially during outdoor gatherings or when kids were spending time downstairs.
The outdoor space has been just as meaningful to us. We’ve carefully landscaped the yard and added a multi-level deck with an outdoor bar, creating the perfect setting for entertaining. We’ve hosted so many memorable pool parties and barbecues. We even hosted an outdoor “prom” when the real high school prom was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID shutdown. This backyard—with its in-ground pool and hot tub—has truly been a place for making lasting memories.
It’s also a peaceful sanctuary. We’ve loved sitting outside or laying in our hammock, listening to the gentle sound of the koi pond’s waterfall while watching the birds at our feeders—jays, cardinals, orioles, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, tanagers, chickadees, finches, and buntings. It’s a setting that feels both lively and calming at the same time.
One of the things we will miss most is the neighborhood itself. Our neighbors have become friends—we look out for one another and regularly gather on Friday evenings for snacks, drinks, and time together. It’s a rare and special sense of community that truly makes this place feel like home.
Leaving this home is bittersweet. Our children are now grown and on their own, and we are ready to downsize and begin a new chapter. But we will always be grateful for the life we built here.
We hope that whoever calls this house home next will experience as much joy, comfort, and connection as we have.
